Plant Health Manager Description
Our client, a leading wholesale nursery outside of Hillsboro, Oregon, is seeking a hands-on Plant Health Manager to oversee plant health across a diverse portfolio of annuals, biennials, herbaceous and woody perennials, and ornamental crops. This role ensures all plant material is healthy, clean, and high-quality from propagation and plug production through finishing and distribution. You’ll lead the Plant Health Team, manage irrigation and fertigation programs, and oversee integrated pest management (IPM), disease prevention, and sustainable crop protection strategies across bedding plants, seasonal color, native perennials, and landscape varieties. The ideal candidate is a proactive horticultural leader who enjoys mentoring teams, optimizing greenhouse and nursery systems, and applying best practices in nutrient management and plant health programs. Plant Health Manager Responsibilities
• Lead and develop a team responsible for plant health, pest control, and irrigation practices
• Monitor crops to identify potential pest, disease, or nutrition issues
• Manage integrated pest management (IPM) programs and oversee treatment applications
• Support and train staff in proper irrigation and fertigation techniques
• Maintain accurate records related to plant health, irrigation, and chemical use
• Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards
• Collaborate with leadership to optimize growing systems
• Purchase and manage materials and supplies within budget guidelines
Plant Health Manager Qualifications
• 3+ years of plant health, nursery operations, or horticulture management experience required
• Strong understanding of irrigation, fertigation, and pest management systems required
• Oregon Private Applicator License (or ability to obtain) required
