[REMOTE] Executive Director – Membership Association Description
Our client in the association management industry is seeking a Remote Executive Director to support two client associations within the United States. Reporting to the President, this individual will serve as the primary contact for each organization’s leadership team and Board of Directors while leading a team of 3-4 professionals responsible for supporting day-to-day operations, membership initiatives, and events for both clients. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience supporting board governance and be comfortable managing board relations, client needs, vendors, strategic initiatives, and operational priorities across multiple organizations. This role requires someone who is resourceful, professional, and able to navigate both routine and complex challenges with minimal oversight. This position is fully remote aside from occasional travel for client meetings and national conferences throughout the year. [REMOTE] Executive Director – Membership Association Responsibilities
• Identify, communicate, and resolve client needs
• Oversee account executives when assigned to projects for your clients
• Provide strategic guidance to clients to ensure growth and stability
• Collaborate with association members to support operational goals
• Ensure that governance documents are up to date and adhered to
• Create, oversee, and report on annual budgets, monthly financials, audits, etc.
• Provide oversight and production of conferences and marketing communications
• Review vendor contracts and sustain relationships with affiliates
• Oversee membership maintenance and enrollment efforts
• Act as a liaison with national association HQ, chapters, lobbyists, and societies
• Participate in internal recruitment, performance evaluation, and mentoring
[REMOTE] Executive Director – Membership Association Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 5+ years of association management or nonprofit experience required
• Proven ability to support Boards of Directors required
• Demonstrated success managing association budgets required
• Strong background coordinating board meetings, conferences, or annual events required
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically up to 5% for conferences and events required
