Welding Inspector (5+ Yrs. Welding OR Inspecting Exp. Req.) Description
Our client in the manufacturing industry is looking for a Welding Inspector to join their team near Pittsburgh, PA. In this role, you will inspect welded products, perform quality control inspections, ensure compliance with AWS weld codes and quality standards, and support continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of welding or welding inspection experience and a strong understanding of AWS weld codes, blueprint reading, and precision measurement tools. To be successful, you must have strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with production and engineering teams. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Welding Inspector or a skilled Welder looking to transition into quality inspection, with company-paid AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification and formal quality systems training.
Welding Inspector (5+ Yrs. Welding OR Inspecting Exp. Req.) Responsibilities
• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of welded products
• Inspect welds to ensure compliance with AWS codes and company quality standards
• Perform in-process, final, and audit inspections throughout the manufacturing process
• Document non-conformances and verify corrective actions are completed and properly closed
• Prepare quality documentation such as inspection records, reports, and stop-work notifications
• Partner with production, engineering, and training teams to improve welding quality
• Verify compliance with ISO 9001 quality system requirements and internal quality procedures
• Review blueprints and technical specifications to verify product conformity
• Support internal and external quality audits while maintaining accurate inspection records
• Assist with welder qualifications, training initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts
• Serve as the liaison between the welding floor and engineering to resolve quality concerns
Welding Inspector (5+ Yrs. Welding OR Inspecting Exp. Req.) Qualifications
• 5+ years of welding OR welding inspection experience is required
• Valid AWS CWI certification or ability to obtain it within 1 year (Company Paid) is required
• Strong ability to interpret and apply AWS weld codes is required
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measurement tools is required
• Ability to work 100% on-site on a rotating 1st/2nd shift or a permanent 2nd shift is required
