Production Engineer (Hands-On Manufacturing / Joining Systems) Description

Our client, a global provider of advanced assembly and joining solutions, is seeking a hands-on Engineer to add to their team north of Naperville, IL. In this role, you will support custom joining and assembly applications through hands-on lab testing, process troubleshooting, and cross-functional project work across industries including automotive, appliance, and industrial equipment. Our client is looking for someone with a mechanical engineering background, ideally with experience in manufacturing, eager to be hands-on with a strong attention to detail. To be successful in the role, you must be comfortable working both independently in the lab and collaboratively with internal teams and customers. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, lab testing, and customer applications, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working both in the lab and production floor to solve real-world engineering challenges and offers a great opportunity to grow into broader project ownership over time. 

Production Engineer (Hands-On Manufacturing / Joining Systems) Responsibilities

•    Develop custom joining and assembly solutions for customer applications 
•    Perform lab testing on materials, components, and tooling 
•    Select tooling and set up equipment for application trials 
•    Troubleshoot process and production issues and identify root causes 
•    Partner with engineering, production, and sales on active projects 
•    Support projects from concept through production launch 
•    Present test results, demos, and feasibility findings to customers 
•    Document project activity, results, and time in SAP and CRM systems 
•    Improve and standardize application and testing processes

Production Engineer (Hands-On Manufacturing / Joining Systems) Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering required
•    Manufacturing or production engineering experience required
•    Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on equipment experience required
•    Process, equipment, or production troubleshooting experience required
•    Willingness to work in lab, production, and office settings required
