Controls Engineer Description
Our client in the industrial manufacturing industry is looking for a Controls Engineer to add to their team in Niles, MI. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for designing custom projects and seeing them through installation. To succeed in the role, you must have at least 5 years as a Controls Engineer and be proficient in both PLC and CAD. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, does not rely on others to complete designs, is able to supervise the build of concepts, and once installed, can answer customer questions on use/ troubleshooting in a professional manner. Controls Engineer Responsibilities
• Responsible for the overall design, documentation, and implementation of control systems
• Responsible for providing controls-related input for Project Budgets
• Monitor adherence of actuals with estimated budgets
• Design, debug, and test each project throughout its life cycle
• Travel to customer sites as needed to install and debug systems
• Adhere to Engineering Standards & ISO compliance
• Coordinate with Engineering Manager to establish controls documentation standards
• Maintain knowledge of current trends and techniques in controls engineering
• Recommend enhancements to processes and products as appropriate
• Work cross-functionally with Sales, Applications Engineers, and Factory Personnel
• Manage technical/regulatory scope requirements of each project
• Coordinate with leadership to generate and maintain controls engineering resource schedule
• Develop Scope of Work documentation for outsourcing controls to 3rd party firms
Controls Engineer Qualifications
• 5+ years of Controls Engineer experience required
• CAD experience required
• PLC software experience required
• Ability to travel domestically to customer sites required (mostly local, some overnight)
