Assistant Controller (Inventory Exp. Req.) Description

Our client in the industrial equipment industry is looking for a hands-on Assistant Controller to add to their team in Blue Island, IL. This is a hybrid position with the flexibility to work from home 2-3 days per week after an initial ~month of training. This opportunity offers a mix of strategic oversight and hands-on accounting, involving intercompany transactions, financial reporting, and staff development (team size: 4-5). The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented leader with a very solid accounting background including inventory. To be successful, you must be able to evaluate the big picture and be a strong communicator that is well-prepared with data to support business decisions. Assistant Controller (Inventory Exp. Req.) Responsibilities

•    Manage day-to-day Accounting operations and provide hands-on support as needed
•    Leadership and guidance to accounting team members
•    Generate cost allocations and intercompany entries for multiple entities
•    Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
•    Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable
•    Supervise Senior Accountants with the management of fixed assets and sales tax returns
•    Oversee multi-state sales tax filings 
•    Finalize/approve month-end close and handle reporting for financial institutions
•    Analyze inventory costs and job costing to ensure optimization
•    Lead the annual physical inventory and approve all system adjustments
•    Review operations from a balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow perspective 
•    Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate efficient year-end audits
•    Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations

Assistant Controller (Inventory & Intercompany Exp. Req.) Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree is required 
•    5+ years of accounting with 2+ years of managerial experience is required
•    Accounting experience related to inventory is required 
•    Experience with subsidiaries and intercompany transactions is required
•    Proficient in Excel (VLOOKUP & Pivot Tables) & ERP systems is required
