Salary: $95,000 - $110,000 + 15% Annual Bonus + Benefits

Category Manager (Gardening Industry) Description

Burpee, an iconic consumer goods & gardening brand, is searching for a strategic Category Manager to add to their team north of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, you will be responsible for the growth and evolution of their general merchandise category, including gardening tools, grow lights, accessories, seed starting trays/kits, fertilizer, and soil. The ideal candidate will have a commercial mindset and a proven ability to own the complete life cycle of a product category, including identifying gaps in consumer offerings, differentiating the needs of various customer types, and strategic planning for both online and retail customers. Category Manager (Gardening Industry) Responsibilities

•    Drive the continued growth of the general merchandise category of a well-known gardening brand
•    Curate an exciting and timely assortment that aligns with sales volume and profit goals
•    Ensure portfolio meets diverse customer and consumer needs
•    Develop and manage a long-term category strategy and product pipeline
•    Synthesize trends, customer needs, and category performance into actionable strategies
•    Research and identify suppliers for new product development, branded products & line extensions
•    Collaborate with operations, marketing, and supply chain on sales forecasting & production plans
•    Own product P&L, set cost assumptions, and meet margin requirements
•    Lead product pipeline meetings and maintain project tools for status updates and deliverables
•    Analyze consumer needs/market trends, optimize portfolio, & differentiate from competitors
•    Complete product research, market research, competitive analysis, & roadmap development
•    Analyze market data to develop sales strategies and define marketing communication plans
•    Meet all calendar milestones to secure on-time deliveries
•    Develop product launch presentations for internal and retail partner communications

Category Manager (Gardening Industry) Qualifications

•    Bachelor's degree is required
•    5+ years of experience in a product management, category buyer, or product marketing role in gardening or adjacent category is required
•    Proven experience overseeing all elements of the product development lifecycle is required
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and project management tools is required
