Staff Accountant Description

Our client is looking for a Staff Accountant to join their team just north of Hartford, Connecticut. This is an onsite position. Day-to-day you will handle accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional who takes full ownership of A/P processes and understands the importance of timely, accurate invoice handling. You should bring strong knowledge of GAAP, A/P, A/R, and reconciliations, along with a sense of urgency and accountability in managing day-to-day transactions. This is a high-impact role where your attention to detail and ownership mindset will directly contribute to the financial strength and efficiency of a global organization.

Staff Accountant Responsibilities

•    Manage daily cash flow and update general ledger entries
•    Reconcile bank accounts and assist with month-end close
•    Prepare financial reports and support budgeting and analysis
•    Own the end-to-end accounts payable process
•    Ensure all invoices are reviewed, approved, and paid accurately and on time
•    Ensure payments are processed within established deadlines
•    Monitor A/P aging reports 
•    Follow up proactively to resolve A/P issues or delays
•    Manage accounts receivable, including posting of payments 
•    Provide payroll processing support in coordination with HR
•    Process invoices and manage expense reports
•    Prepare sales tax filings

Staff Accountant Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance required 
•    3+ years of accounting experience required 
•    A/P experience required
•    Must be willing to work onsite
