Our manufacturing client is seeking a hands-on Director of Finance & Accounting to join their team in picturesque Vermont. In this role, you will lead a small team in daily accounting operations, oversee financial reporting, audits, and compliance, and provide clear financial insights that support budgeting, forecasting, and performance improvement. You’ll collaborate with departments to inform decision-making, mentor staff, and drive process improvements across functions. Director of Finance & Accounting (reporting, audits & tax compliance exp. req.) Responsibilities
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and monthly closing
• Supervise AP, AR, payroll, and GL activities; review staff journal entries, reconciliations, and reports
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
• Develop and enforce internal controls to ensure GAAP compliance
• Lead annual audits and ensure timely tax filings
• Partner with Manufacturing, Sales, and IT to provide financial insights to support decision-making
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, and support strategic planning processes
• Support lender reporting requirements and assist leadership with financial presentations
• Manage finance team’s role in system upgrades and ERP-related initiatives
• Develop business metrics and profitability analysis tools
• Mentor and manage Finance team members
Director of Finance & Accounting (reporting, audits & tax compliance exp. req.) Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 8+ years of progressive accounting and/or finance experience required
• 4+ years of team management/leadership experience required
• Financial reporting, audits, and tax compliance experience required
• Budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking experience required
• Proficiency with financial software and integrated business systems required
