Botanist (Mid or Senior Level) Description
Our client, an environmental resource consulting firm, is seeking a Mid to Senior level Botanist to join their team near Concord, CA. In this role, you will conduct botanical surveys, habitat assessments, and environmental impact analyses. You will contribute to project coordination, regulatory compliance, and technical reporting related to California’s diverse flora. This role requires strong knowledge of California’s plants and ecosystems, excellent fieldwork abilities, and effective communication with diverse teams and stakeholders. This is a dynamic opportunity to work on meaningful projects in conservation, land management, and sustainable development.
Botanist (Mid or Senior Level) Responsibilities
• Conduct field surveys to document plant species and vegetation types
• Assess habitats and survey rare plants while adhering to regulations
• Analyze ecological data to guide project planning and decisions
• Prepare technical reports and impact analyses under NEPA and CEQA
• Oversee field studies, including wetland delineations and rare plant monitoring
• Work with teams to create habitat restoration and mitigation plans
• Help secure permits and ensure compliance for sensitive habitat projects
• Contribute to developing budgets, timelines, and deliverables for client projects
• Offer botanical guidance during environmental reviews and construction
Botanist (Mid or Senior Level) Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Botany, or a related field required
• 3+ years of data collection and field surveying California flora required
• Knowledge of NEPA, CEQA, ESA, and state/federal permitting processes preferred
• Proficiency with GIS mapping and GPS tools required
• Technical writing and project management skills preferred
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regionally required
