Our client in the manufacturing industry is seeking a Controller to join their team in Mississauga, ON. This is a newly created role to bring previously outsourced accounting functions, in-house, due to the company’s rapid growth and add to the leadership team to help continue to drive profitable operations forward. This is a hands-on role, reporting directly to the President, and is responsible for ensuring financial integrity and supporting HR processes, ensuring functionality. You will initially focus on implementing HR policies and ensuring proper documentation is being followed across all department managers; but the overall primary focus of this role, will be on leading strategic financial planning, compliance, and operations while managing day-to-day finances, including job costing and budgeting, and will oversee one direct report, Bookkeeper/HR Administrator. Controller (full cycle accounting in manufacturing industry exp. req.) Responsibilities
• Oversee financial operations and support human resources functions
• Generate accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and internal controls
• Analyze financial performance; provide insights and recommendations for improvement
• Develop financial strategies aligned with company goals
• Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making
• Optimize funding and compliance for government grants and academia partnerships
• Manage 1 direct report in the role of Bookkeeper/HR Administrator
• Oversee HR initiatives including recruitment, retention, and policy management
• Create, implement and maintain performance policies, procedures, and documentation
• Equip managers and employees with tools and knowledge for effective implementation
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and year-end audits
Controller (full cycle accounting in manufacturing industry exp. req.) Qualifications
• 4+ years of full cycle accounting experience in manufacturing required
• Experience preparing financial statements and balance sheets required
• Experience with financial reporting & cost analysis, budgets and forecasting required
• Proficiency with ERP software and Excel required
