Salary: up to $125,000 (DOE) + Benefits

Design Engineer – Industrial Controls & Automation / PLC & HMI Focus Description

Our client, a growing OEM in the automated machinery space, is seeking a Design Engineer to join their team in Baltimore, MD. In this role, you’ll play a key role in designing and developing custom control systems – primarily using Rockwell – for one-of-a-kind dispensing and packaging machines used across a variety of industries. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams and customers to bring automated solutions to life in a highly collaborative environment. This is a hands-on engineering role, working on highly customized projects, not repetitive or off-the-shelf equipment. The engineering challenges vary from job to job, giving you the chance to stretch creatively and technically – ideal for an engineer who thrives on building from the ground up and solving complex automation challenges. Design Engineer – Industrial Controls & Automation / PLC & HMI Focus Responsibilities

•    Design control systems with multi-axis motion and electromechanical components
•    Develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and specification sheets
•    Program PLCs, HMIs, and motion control systems
•    Develop early-stage machine concepts, technical drawings, BOM and cost estimates
•    Source components and apply engineering standards to designs and standard parts
•    Collaborate with internal teams and customers, ensuring alignment from concept to delivery
•    Support on-site machine troubleshooting, debugging and commissioning activities 
•    Lead design reviews and contribute to sharing knowledge with team
•    Manage multiple projects in different stages of development
•    Adhere to national electrical codes and safety standards 

Design Engineer – Industrial Controls & Automation / PLC & HMI Focus Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering required
•    5+ years of engineering experience required
•    Industrial equipment/machinery experience required
•    PLC and HMI programming experience required
•    Proficiency with 2D CAD software required
