Project Engineer – Manufacturing Programs Description
Our client, a chemical manufacturing company, is expanding its manufacturing programs team (5 team members; 120 employees total) to support increasing demand across commercial and defense markets.
They are seeking a Project Engineer with experience managing manufacturing or customer-driven projects who is ready to grow into broader program-level ownership. This individual will manage 2–6 customer projects and internal manufacturing initiatives (ranging from $5K to several million dollars), with the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility and visibility across operations over time. This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys working across engineering and operations teams, while driving multiple projects forward simultaneously. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable balancing technical, operational, and customer-facing priorities within a specialized manufacturing setting.
Project Engineer – Manufacturing Programs Responsibilities
• Manage multiple concurrent customer projects and internal manufacturing initiatives
• Coordinate between engineering, operations, production, and leadership teams
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and blueprints
• Align deliverables with customer and contract requirements
• Support quoting activities and assist with bid/no-bid evaluations
• Define project scope, schedules, priorities, and resource needs across multiple workstreams
• Track budgets, milestones, timelines, and overall project performance
• Identify project risks, manage competing priorities, and adjust plans as needed
• Drive process improvements focused on operational efficiency, execution, and profitability
• Establish and maintain project tracking metrics and status reporting across active programs
• Ensure compliance with contractual, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements
• Support communication between internal and external stakeholders
Project Engineer – Manufacturing Programs Qualifications
• Background within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment required
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, or workstreams simultaneously
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Able and willing to work onsite daily
