Controls Engineer 
Location: Indianapolis, IN (NE Indianapolis near Fort Harrison Park)
Salary: $75,000-$90,000 + Straight Pay + Bonus Potential  
Straight Pay: Typically, an additional $10,000-$15,000/year

Controls Engineer (controls engineering exp. req.) Description 

Our client, a project-based automation company, is seeking a Controls Engineer to join their team in Indianapolis. In this role, you'll take on a range of responsibilities including programming, debugging, commissioning, and electrical hardware design. You’ll work hands-on with an array of technologies including PLCs, robotics, vision systems, VFDs, servos, and field I/O wiring. Their Indiana office operates as a small, tight-knit team of four engineers, giving you the opportunity for greater exposure and involvement across projects. Important note: After onboarding (typically 3-6 months), this role will offer some work-from-home flexibility depending on project needs 

Controls Engineer (controls engineering exp. req.) Responsibilities  

•    Design electrical hardware 
•    Program controls systems 
•    Setup, configure, and troubleshoot systems 
•    Serve as the lead engineer for projects
•    Review schematics with customers and provide guidance 
•    Communicate cross-functionally to ensure project deliverables 
•    Write and edit software code for machines and systems 
•    Complete project documentation
•    Pursue continued education for automation equipment 
•    Travel to clients to provide installation, testing, and support  

Controls Engineer (controls engineering exp. req.) Qualifications  

•    Minimum 1 year of controls engineering experience required 
•    Hardware design and/or PLC programming experience required 
•    Siemens experience required 
•    Travel around 30% required; typically, within Indiana (limited overnights)
