Controller Description
Our client, in the Event Production industry, is looking for a Controller to add to their team in Chicago, IL (Onsite in West Town, 4 blocks from Green & Pink Lines). Reporting to the owners, you will be responsible for executing and overseeing daily accounting initiatives while ultimately ensuring the best practices and processes have been instituted and effectively carried out to maximize profitability. Ideal candidates will have at least five years of experience acting as a Controller and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment. To be successful in this role, you must have a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves mentality to get the job done rather than wanting to sit back and be a receiver of information. Our client is looking for someone who has experience working with and ultimately consolidating the accounting of multiple legal entities. If you want to take a company's accounting reins of around $30 Million and make it your own, this is the role for you!
Controller Responsibilities
• Lead finance staff of 5+ employees in multiple offices across the US
• Maximize return on assets by establishing financial policies/procedures, controls/systems
• Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
• Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls
• Conduct audits and provide information to external auditors
• Maximize return and limit risk on cash by minimizing bank balances and making investments
• Prepare budgets and consolidate financial data
• Prepare and file Month/Year End reporting
• Achieve budget objectives through expenditures; analyze variances and initiate corrective action
• Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data
• Prepare special reports and summarize information/ trends
• Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements on needed actions
• Complete operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees
• Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential
Controller Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
• 5+ years as Controller (under $29M revenue) experience required OR
• 5+ years as Assistant Controller/ Accounting Manager (over $30M revenue) experience required
• Proficiency in an accounting software is required
