Sheet Metal Estimator (3+ yrs exp req) Description

Our client, a well-established manufacturer in the industrial machinery space, is seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Estimator to join their on-site team just south of Asheville, NC. Reporting directly to the President, this role is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for sheet metal parts and assemblies across a range of industries, including aerospace, medical, and defense. You'll review customer specs and drawings, perform manual takeoffs, and collaborate with engineering and production to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Projects can range from small one-off components to complex, high-value assemblies. Some project management is involved — you’ll monitor timelines and ensure projects are completed on schedule and meet required quality standards. This is a customer-facing role that blends technical knowledge with relationship management. Sheet Metal Estimator (3+ yrs exp req) Responsibilities

•    Analyze customer drawings, specs, and RFQs to generate accurate cost estimates
•    Prepare detailed proposals, including pricing, scope, and production timelines
•    Coordinate with engineering and production teams to ensure manufacturability
•    Communicate directly with customers to clarify requirements and provide updates
•    Oversee project schedules to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to quality standards
•    Manage change orders, purchase orders, and job revisions throughout the project lifecycle
•    Support production planning to ensure jobs run efficiently and stay on schedule
•    Incorporate tooling and special requirements into job estimates as needed
•    Use estimating software and ERP system to track and manage quotes
•    Perform manual takeoffs and apply labor, material, and overhead costs to jobs
•    Maintain strong attention to detail to ensure profitability and quoting accuracy

Sheet Metal Estimator (3+ yrs exp req) Qualifications 

•    3+ years of estimating experience required
•    Sheet metal estimating experience required 
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and industry-standard estimating software required
