Director of Embedded Systems & Engineering – HYBRID Description

Our client in the healthcare technology industry is seeking a Director of Embedded Systems & Engineering to join their team in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This hybrid role allows the flexibility for 1-2 days per week from home once you are up to speed. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead advancements in the design, implementation, and support of innovative embedded software and hardware systems while mentoring a small engineering team. The ideal candidate is a technical leader with deep expertise in embedded systems, hardware architecture, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and microcontroller programming. Director of Embedded Systems & Engineering - HYBRID Responsibilities

•    Lead embedded software and hardware system design, implementation, and support
•    Master current architecture and drive innovation in embedded systems and wireless tech
•    Manage and guide a small engineering team to ensure high-quality product delivery
•    Collaborate cross-functionally to advance products and meet quality and cost objectives
•    Define and execute technology and product roadmaps for future development
•    Design, develop, and support firmware and hardware-software integration 
•    Evaluate and adopt new technologies to enhance product capabilities
•    Engage stakeholders to optimize engineering workflows
•    Oversee the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch, ensuring budget and quality
•    Work with cloud teams to ensure accurate data integration with embedded systems

Director of Embedded Systems & Engineering - HYBRID Qualifications

•    B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field is required
•    7+ years of experience with embedded systems engineering is required
•    Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems required
•    Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) & microcontroller programming required
