Finance Manager (finance and project-based accounting exp. req.) Description

Our client, in the energy sector, is looking for a Finance Manager to join their team outside of New Haven, CT and oversee the financial infrastructure for one of their business lines. This position will start as an individual contributor role, with the potential to establish and lead a team in the future. Our client offers a range of services and has recently acquired another company to strengthen their market presence in North America. To support their growth, they have created this role to separate their accounting and finance functions from their HQ. Aside from helping to optimize and streamline reporting, this role was designed to play a key role in supporting business expansion plans. Someone who can leverage the depth of their FP&A background to provide strategic recommendations on business development initiatives. In the short term, you will take a hands-on approach, focusing on daily finance tasks to identify bottlenecks and optimize workflows. Candidates who prefer a structured environment with less ambiguity, or who are looking for a less hands-on role, may not find this position suitable. Instead, they are searching for individuals who are excited by the challenge of improving existing processes and building something better. You will play a crucial role in establishing the financial foundation for this division and leveraging your financial insights to influence better decision making at the highest level. Finance Manager (finance and project-based accounting exp. req.) Responsibilities

•    Prepare and evaluate financial statements for all subsidiaries
•    Create and uphold financial models, budgets, and ongoing forecasts
•    Assist in strategic decision-making and monitor performance against budget targets
•    Perform variance analysis to uncover trends and deliver actionable insights
•    Oversee the financial performance of each subsidiary, identifying potential risks
•    Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with subsidiary management teams
•    Provide financial analysis for capital expenditure requests and other strategic projects
•    Ensure compliance with regulations and reporting standards in both the US and Canada
•    Establish and maintain strong internal controls to protect company assets
•    Conduct regular reviews of financial processes and support audit activities
•    Prepare and deliver detailed financial reports for executive leadership

Finance Manager (finance and project-based accounting exp. req.) Qualifications  

•    Bachelor’s degree required 
•    7+ years of accounting/finance experience required 
•    Project-based accounting experience required 
•    Travel up to 20% (primarily US & Canada)
